Great Expectations

One of the best things about vacation is the anticipation and the many hours of happy thoughts vacation provides.  All our travelers are feeling the same way.
What do you hope to do or see during your vacation?
Linda & OWM Dave:  I want to see everything that is possible to see, Mount Rushmore, Yellow Stone and the Hot springs.

Lori: I am looking forward to Mt. Rushmore on the 4th of July, soaking in the hot springs of Thermopolis and contemplating how much my husband is a clone of his Dad.

Kenny:  I hope to see the majesty of Yellowstone up close and personal.

Becky:  Looking forward to seeing everything on our agenda. My dad was born and raised just outside Denver, but I’ve never seen the Rockies; so I’m really looking forward to that. I’m also a huge history buff, so the museums and re-enactments of the Wild West will be lots of fun for me!

GL Dave: I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of the places that I’ve only seen in movies and Westerns.

Dad Dave: just the different states and enjoy the trip across the Dakotas and so on.

What items do you think are important to have on the trip?
Linda & OWM Dave:  A camera or several cameras, sunscreen and a hat cool clothes and good walking shoes. A spare tire, water and food. Money!!!!!!
Lori:  Ice, pre-prepared meals, a book to read on the long travel days and playing travel games.

Kenny:  Tow chain for the F-450!

Becky: A good pair of tennis shoes! Also, a GPS, our camera, camcorder, and cell phone – oh, and Kody Kight – he will be loads of fun!
GL Dave: FORD F450 and a Dodge mechanic as well as our 5th wheel!

Dad Dave:  Diesel fuel is the biggest item and suntan lotion.
Any advice you have for people making a trip like this?
Linda & OWM Dave:  plan a year ahead as we did and have a good leader (Kenny)
Lori:  save your money and get your bills paid ahead.

Kenny: Have fun, Stop and see America

Becky: Do your homework and be prepared for rising gas prices! Also, have a sense of humor as well as a sense of adventure!
GL Dave: Lots of planning!

Dad Dave:  Just enjoy it, there are a lot of miles so just be patient and enjoy what you get to see; likely you won't get to make too many of these.
Why is making this trip important to you?
Linda & OWM Dave:  This will probably be the last long trip that David and I will make in our life time.
Lori:  Kenny is looking forward to creating some wonderful memories with his Dad.  I am looking forward to enjoying a trip with my husband.

Kenny: Had a great time last time we were in Gillette, can't wait to go back!

Becky:  We've always talked about traveling, in fact, a trip to Alaska is one of our dreams!  This will be our FIRST really big trip so it helps going with a nice group of folks who know what they're doing!  :)

GL Dave: Officially retiring the day we leave, so this is a good way to celebrate.

Dad Dave:  I get to spend time with my son and his wife and family and so on.
