North Dakota

Not often considered a vacation destination but we all found God's handiwork displayed in all it's magnificence in the variety of landscapes. There were amber waves of grain, grassy plains and rugged badlands.

Photographs just can't capture the awesomeness. When you are planning a vacation to see God's handiwork, consider North Dakota.

Bazaar

One of the highlights of the rally is seeing all the wonderful crafts that people bring to sell. Just amazing displays.

Two Peas in a Pod

On the tour bus back from Devils Tour. Like father, like son.

Energy Capital of the World

Gillette is called the Energy Capital of the World as they produce about 50% of the US coal supply. Since the coal is near the surface all they do is clear off the topsoil and scoop up the coal.

Also there are oilfields and natural gas so they really do earn the title. All through the day you hear trains of coal leaving town.

Outside the Cam-Plex they had a display of some of the equipment they use. Kenny has always been a fan of the oil pumpers.

Gillette Coal Mining Tour.

Wonderful woman who used to drive one of the large dump trucks shared a lot about the mining operations.

If you are into large equipment this is the tour for you. KD Dave standing in a "small" bucket. Look at the pickup next to the large dump truck and the lift pole to give you a sense of the size of the equipment. Also some petrified wood removed from a mining site.

Great Hall of Gotta Have-it's

As with most rallies or conventions the vendors have quite a variety of all the gadgets you might need.

Gillette!

Arrived at Gillette Tuesday afternoon. Since we couldn't find anyone from parking security gave us some awesome parking spots. Usually with a rally you are parked closely so that you have little room to extend your awnings.

Shortly after setting up a massive storm swept through with high winds and hail. I wish I had taken of the storm system approaching.

Kenny even pulled in the slides to stabilize the trailer. The storm blew through in the course of about 30 minutes and the sun was back out again.

Staying at the Cam-plex in Gillette. Awesome facility with full hookups and 50 amp service.
