Corn Palace

For all you oddity lovers the Corn Palace in Mitchell SD is a must. At first I thought it would be more like Pedro's at South of the Border an over advertised tourist trap but I was most impressed to find that not only is it free to visit it is a wonderful tribute not only to the artistic talents of the people bit also to the agricultural bounty of he region.

Each year nearly 100 acres of corn are used to decorate the Corn Palace and each year a new theme is chosen to display.

In visiting you can smell the corn all throughout the building. As far as I can tell the only thing that pays for the attraction is the souvenirs sold. Our group did buy one or two items there, but where the real shopping happened was at Cabales.

Look at Linda and OWM Dave getting corny!
