KD Dave has been a history buff for a long time and asked to make a stop at Sacajawea's grave. She is located in an Indian cemetery on the Shoshone Indian Reservation.
She is buried next to one son and there is a marker for the other son there. I have never seen such well decorated and well cared for graves.
Some graves were very simple with wooden markers and some just had a rock painted with either a name or date of death.
While there isn't a visitor center or any educational center the stop was well worth it and got us to investigate a little more of our American history.
Just to brush you up a bit, Sacajawea was a Shoshone Indian woman about 16 years old when she became the guide and diplomatic relations for the Lewis and Clark Expedition. She had a newborn papoose with her on her travels. Lewis and Clark would never have made the trip without her. Before her 19th birthday she had made history and shaped the nation for the many to come after her.
