Deadwood

Deadwood SD is the place where the gold rush and all the lawlessness that accompanied it found their home. Deadwood today has been rebuilt several times over because of floods and fires that have torn through the narrow little canyon town.

Wild Bill Hickcock lived here and was assassinated here. Every day the number 10 saloon has a re-enactment of the murder and the trial of the assassin.

The town still plays host to much gambling and saloons. That didn't interest me nearly as much as the museum that displayed some artifacts of early western life.

Surprisingly there were Jewish settlers that stayed true to their faith in the midst of the roughness of the town. There were also a large host of Chinese settlers as well.

There were displays on the establishment of the railroads and articles and artifacts about frontier life.
