PA Turnpike

Did you know that the Pennsylvania Turnpike is the first established public- private superhighway? The stretch of road between Carlisle and Irwin was created to use private funding to create a limited access toll road patterned after Germany's autobahn created to accommodate speeds of 100 mph (though the speed limit is 65) with limited grades and curves to expedite your travel west:)

Today you don't even need to stop to pay the toll with your EZ Pass.
